Boat jetty of Willingdon Island

island1This Gallan was bored and home alone when Vishnu,a friend of this gallan called up.He said that,he needs someone who knows driving for his driving practise.I was more than happy to accompany him because I prefer to be in a car rather than glued to P.C the whole day.Sice we had no particular place to go,Vishnu suggested to go to Wellington Island.

We reached Island smoothly(man Vishnu is a quick learner in driving).Traffic was also minimal(dont forget it was a sunday ; )).island2I had been living in Ernakulam for the past 8 years and I never thought coming to this part of the city would be this relaxing ; ).THE PLACE of review is not the Wellington island ladies and gentlemen,Its the Boat Jetty of Wellington Island.

THE WAY
After crossing Venduruthy Bridge ask someone for directions to the Taj hotel(don’t even think about having a coffee there,if your purse is ‘light’ that day). You could spot the Southern Naval Command Headquarters and their runway(if lucky a flying plane/helicopter too)enroute.Come straight and you would spot COCHIN WHARF as a deadend. But its not a dead end : ) turn left and go staight for few metres and park your vehicle(parking not a problem…ample space is there). You can also do the easy way which is to park your vehicle at ernakulam and take a boat (2.50 rs only ; ) )

You should come at the right time, because they dont have much trees here.So coming here at 1pm might be a bit of problem. But at evening when sun goes down the view is breath taking. This Gallan saw many families ,lovers and individuals having a good time there.Place is really safe too.Its that part of the Island where high ranking naval officials have quarters,so security is really tight.I mean where could you get an armed naval person watching over you while you have fun?.There is also a childrens park at the end of the walkway with a miniature boat.People do visit this place.Trust me its worth a visit.
