Silvy and Sridev emerge as Scrabble Champions!
Here are the results of Team Sam Cochin Club All Kerala Scrabble Tournament held on 18 June 2011…
Silvy Cherian won the Overall championship and Women’s title of the Team Sam Cochin Club All Kerala Scrabble Tournament, 2011 winning all 3 matches and aggregating a spread (winning score difference) of 293!
The Men’s championship went to Kshitij Dewan from Calicut with 2 wins and 106 spread. Girijan P.S. came second with 1 win and -109 spread and Ranjit George came third. The tournament was organised by Cochin Club and Scrabble Association of Kerala in association with Team Sam Academy.
Sridev V. the current 9 year old Kerala State Scrabble Champion took the Junior Under 18 year category title with a 3 game win over Sukhpreet Singh, a newcomer on the block. Silvy Cherian bagged the highest game score of the championship with 407 points. Highest score for a word was 87points for UVEITIS (inflammation of the uvea) played by Sridev V.
In the Bayer National Scrabble Championship, 2011 held in Mumbai recently Sherwin Rodrigues currently World Scrabble No.13 from Mumbai became 4 time National Champion of India. He along with Udayan Grover from Pune who came second will represent India in 36 Round Games of the World Scrabble Championship to be held this year in Warsaw, Poland from 12th to 16th October.
