Infopark, Kochi’s own IT hub, is all set to get bigger. News has it that the Infopark authorities are inviting proposals from international companies for the development of the Infopark and helping them with the second phase in the growth of the Infopark. The second phase is being developed at Kunnathunadu and Puthencruz village where both SEZ and non-SEZ companies will later function.
This Gallan hears that the all new Park will have facilities like shopping arcades, town centre plaza, convention centre, women’s hostel, and guest house, facilities for rest and recreation and boat club. Depending upon the builder’s choice, the park might also feature hotels, convention centers, sports clubs and many other such recreational areas. Work on basic infrastructural facilities like power distribution, internal road system, water intake, treatment and storage, data& communication connectivity, land development, compound wall, guest house, common food courts, etc has reportedly already begun.
The Government of Kerala has shelled out a sum of Rs.50 Crores for the same. Looks like the Government and the authorities are on the right track as far as their development agenda is concerned, as this project is expected to generate fresh employment opportunities for up to 90000 aspiring techies. Infopark is currently home to over 15,000 IT professionals working in companies like OPI Global, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, ACS, US Technologies, IBS, Arbitron and Zerone Consulting. SO, if everything goes according to plan, Kochi will be a bigger IT hub than it already is, and will be a source of employment to many aspiring and upcoming techies.
