Ground Zero & Friends – Set to rock you at the FREEDOM ROCKS!
If rocking is your thing, then Independence Day is gonna be your day… This Gallan might be sounding a bit odd. Rocking on a patriotic day?? Sounds really very odd, right? So, what if you could rock for the good??? Yes, here it is… Introducing, THE FREEDOM ROCKS! Concert to happen on the 15th of August 2011 at Fine Arts Society Hall, Kochi ! And a series of updates about the most awaiting rock show of this year to follow, starting with the favourites, ‘GROUND ZERO’….
usically more upfront rock and roll, with a love for playing the best of yester years, Ground Zero has stripped its hype (if there was any) and enjoys the rediscovering process of just rocking out. With throngs of fans, an excellent line up customised for this event and an all new adrenaline, the band is ready to create the magic at the FREEDOM ROCKS!
They would be performing as GROUND ZERO & Friends. Not only have they got the attitude and tunes to rock out, they also have the performance ability to pull it off.
Each member has had their share of musical history. The Main element to the band – Darshan Shankar (dats), was both, a sessions artist and lead singer of multiple UK, Scottish and Indian bands. He made his mark with good showmanship in control over the microphone and being an energetic front man. Taking a one-way ticket to the Middle East for better prospects, little did Darshan realize that he would play a key role in forming the band Ground Zero.
Pauli, the versatile bassman, who was among the first in India to play slap bass and is famed for playing tabla with a bass guitar’. A very famous musician back in the days under the label of 13AD is another founder member of GROUND ZERO – very excited to rock his town again!
Deepu Sasidharan, the down to earth, self-taught guitarist who chopped enough riffs and speed leads is otherwise known as the Current Guitarist for the ever famous Indian Band ‘Motherjane’ . This great buddy of Darshan and Paul, is all set to bring back memories of days when he used to play for 13AD in Muscat and Dubai, with his old musician buddies.
Not to forget the man on the KEYS…â€Kannan Keys†as friends call him caught the attention of Cochinites in early 90s where he played for 13AD – now plays for GROUND ZERO besides all his recording works at the studio in Chennai.
“We haven’t lost our taste and passion for playing good music” – Quoting Darshan, “the creative relationship of the band is very intense with this current line-up“.
With new fire in the belly, Ground Zero & Friends are ready than ever to deliver the goods.. at the FREEDOM ROCKS! Concert on the 15th of August at The Fine Arts Hall in Kochi.   KEEP ROCKING! \m/
