World Environment Day special

“All NGOs to stop working”. There is nothing to be embarassed if such a news takes up the headlines. All NGOs are run with the will of a small group of people with sincere interest. Their existence becomes an excuse for the rest of the people, not to help in the wll being of the soceity.

‘You must be the change you wish to see in the world’:-Mahatma Gandhi

These words are often forgotten. No, ignored. Until and unless every citizen contributes his bit to the soceity, a change is impossible.

Today, June 5th is World Environment Day, a day to remind of the degrading natural resources, to think, to bring a new lifestyle which cares for the environment. But nothing really happens than a few seminars and rallies. The change should really happen to our lifestyles. Do we remember of turning off the fan and lights when we leave from our room? Do we insist on walking than riding our motorbike for small distances? Do we care to drop the plastic wrappers properly in bins? It is where the change should start from.

Lets all take small resolutions for a greater future.

  1. Repair leaked pipes. A dripping faucet can waste 20 gallons of water a day.
  2. Always use both sides of a sheet of paper.
  3. Lets avoid using our motorbike for travelling small distances. Lets walk. Or lets use the public transport.
  4. Keep lids on pans when cooking to prevent your cooker having to work extra hard.
  5. Use solar powered products.
  6. Remember to turn of lights and appliances when not in use.
  7. Prefer CFLs than incandescent bulbs.
  8. Drive your vehicle at 55-60 kmph to get optimum mileage.

Lets join the revolution for a greener world.
