Tea with World arm-wrestling champions 2009
As promised KOCHIGALLAN met up with Mr. Sajeev P V who got GOLD in the 55+ category and Mr. Snibu S Ravi who got SILVER in the 110+ category for The World arm-wrestling championship 2009 held at Shaolin Shake, Egypt from 21-27 Oct 09.Dont expect this to be the usual formal boring interview…(translated to english)
1)what do you do besides arm-wrestling.he he???
Snibu:”I work for Mahindra logistics-edappally and Dhibin here works at ernakulam market”.
2)So What was the beginning?
Sajeev:”Vincent chettan who works at Unix who is a brotherly friend,introduced me to life gym”
Snibu:”for me my father and Saji chettan were the inspiration for all of this”.
3)The difficulties you guys had to face??
Snibu:”Sponsors were the most difficult part”.
4)Can you explain that for us??
Snibu:”Well to find a sponsor for a sport like this is the most difficult part.Like last year’s event were organised in Spain but we couldn’t attend that one because we had no sponsors”
5)So you got sponsors for this event?
Sajeev:Ofcorse yes.If it were not for the sponsors we wouldn’t have attended this event also.Because close to one lakh ruppees were needed per person.
6)who sponsored you guys??
Snibu:DDL sports and APSARA CHANDRA at ERNAKULAM MARKET.

7)What are the changes you would like to see in the game??
Sajeev:”Well nothing in the game but there is no price money for the event and people like us participate for the love of the game.We have nothing but local sponsors.That should be changed.Like,when we went to Egypt there was immense support and fans fpo the game.We saw a nine year old wearing a t-shirt with arm-wrestling picture on it.”
8)Any message to the GALLANS reading this??
Snibu:”Never look for recognition because unlike cricket and football,arm-wrestling involves just one person and that is yourself.So love the game more”.
Sajeev:”Well ,I had seen a tenth standard person coming to the gym and saying to the instructor that he can’t quit smoking.I am a person who belives that knowing the taste is ok,but addiction to it especially at such an early stage in life is really bad to the society as a whole.So quit the bad habits and start working out.(KOCHIGALLAN totally agrees with that statement).Give equal importance to studies and sports:.
