1 October 2011   View Comments

On the second floor of the international departure terminal of the Kochi International airport, is the “Fire Fly” the new open air lounge bar. Inaugurated by the airport director ACK Nair, the lounge bar is the dream project of Casino Aviation Flight services. Apart for the 2000 square feet of covered area the lounge bar also boasts a 3000 square feet garden area.

The Fire Fly will be a welcome experience for all the international passengers, who complete the clearance procedure from Ground Handling, Immigration and Customs Departments are forced to sit in the departure for at least a couple of hours. The bar will operate round the clock on all days making sure anybody looking out for a place to relax at the airport gets one at the Fire Fly. The Fire Fly is expected to serve the last bit of hospitality to the passengers before they leave Kochi.

The bar in nedumbassery airport has a menu which makes you feel that the cheapest drink is 150 Rs for a peg. Once you have it  and pay the bill you will come to know that the said rate is for 30 ml. The note on the bottom of the menu says that the above mentioned rates are for 30 ml. It should be written next to the price on the menu and not at the bottom of the menu page .This is not fair.

Also when you ask for the bill they don’t give you a proper bill. The bill should have the name of the Bar and not just a white paper without any name and seal. When I insisted for a proper bill they told me that the bills are over . I told them to give me in writing that the bills are over but they never bothered to do so. They were acting as if they are busy. Finally I insisted them to give me a seal of the bar to which too they refused. What they gave me was only a paid seal that too after so much of requests.

This amounts to unfair trade practice and deficiency in service on the part of the Bar management.

This happened on 31 st Jan 2012 at 8.34 pm 56 seconds. I was waiting for my flight from cok to shj in Jet airways.

The matter needs to be investigated and necessary corrective action has to be taken against those responsible.
