The tournament is being organised by the Regional Sports Centre in association with Team Sam Academy under the auspices of the Scrabble Association of Kerala. This will be a ranking tournament. LEXPERT 2011 based on the Collins Scrabble Dictionary will be used for adjudication.

Good Afternoon Lunch is a start up based in Kochi which models itself loosely around the concept of the Mumbai’s ‘ Dabbawallas’. Good Afternoon Lunch delivers well packed, wholesome meals to homes and offices in Kochi.

Their operations started in April, 2011 and since then have been growing at a tremendous rate. Gokul, who’s a graduate of AIMS and then went on to get his masters from SUNY, New York started this venture soon after his studies. From a modest start of just less than ten orders a day, today they deliver their service anywhere between 500 to 1000 lunches a day!!!

“We like to believe that one of the best features about our service is that we ensure that all food which are delivered are well packed and hot by the time it reaches our customers.”, says Gokul. With tighter schedules and loose ideals about one’s health such a service makes a lot of difference to the working class in Kochin. One of the biggest customer base for Good Afternoon Lunch services is from the Infopark and the CSEZ areas in Kakkanad. Other prime areas where they serve are at the plethora of homes and offices in the Kaloor, Kadavanthara and Panampilly Nagar areas.

Considering that many establishments offer door delivery services in Kochin, Good Afternoon Lunch’s services stands out because they do not require a minimum order for delivery nor do they give a delivery area limit. Many companies and offices have opted to go the Good Afternoon Lunch way and have subscribed to their corporate services plans where for regular and bulk orders, they provide lunches in time for their lunch breaks. They also take orders for custom ‘sadhya’ orders.

“If you are in Kochi, you will get your food on time.” says Gokul. “We do not charge our customers extra for packaging or deliveries. Our prices are inclusive of all charges.” Currently their vegetarian meals are priced at Rs. 60/- per meal. This includes the delivery charges are well as the packaging charges and taxes.

“Rest assured, what matters to us and our customers are Quality. If quality is paramount, everything else will fall into place. We are starting a new menu which will include non-veg items. It is important that we maintain a separate kitchen for both vegetarian food preparations.” says Ashfak, an employee of Good Afternoon Lunch who is in charge of logistics and customer relations. With work on the North over bridge happening on full swing and with the summer sun blazing away, people in Kochin would welcome such services where food would be delivered right to their door step with open arms for sure!

So, what all do you need to get your passport issued? A question whose answer still remains ambiguous to many… For all those who ain’t yet aware, this is how it goes…

You got to log in to www.passportindia.gov.in and submit the online application. You will then get a date appointed to visit the Passport Seva Kendra (Passport Service Centre/PSK). Visit the place on the alloted date with the documents specified in the above mentioned website and get the procedures done, which should ideally be over in an hour. And than all what you got to do is to relax and wait for the passport delivery.

Next question would obviously be, ‘Where all in Kochi do they run the PSKs?’ The following are the two closest locations of PSKs in Kochi:

1) Moosa Vaidyar Memorial Building, Aluva Perumbavoor Road, Aluva – 683101 (Near Casino Theatre)

These PSKs are getting ready to process 500 applications a day. This would bring down the time taken for delivery of ordinary and Tatkal passports drastically. The impressive, public-friendly PSKs, powered by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), have their front-end office, manned by TCS staff, where collection of biometric data takes place while passport officials verify documents and collect fees.

These are two of the 13 PSKs allocated to the State as part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ ‘Passport Seva Project’. The project is aimed at providing efficient and speedy service to passport applicants. Good job, Mr.Minister.
