Kochi Airport Museum and ‘aerotropolis’ concept !
Soon, there would be one more addition to the list of picnic spots in Kochi – The Airport Museum !!! And guess what…This latest venture from Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is going to be the first of its kind in South India. 
The 12000 sq. ft. Airport Museum is as part of the proposed ‘Aerotropolis‘ (A city in which the layout, infrastructure, and economy are centered around a major airport) concept and will have four halls exhibiting details about world airports and other related informations supported by photos and models.
- Theme of the first hall is ‘World history of airports’, ‘History of Indian aviation’, ‘World’s ten big airports, ‘World’s unique airports’, etc.
- The second hall will have its theme as ‘Evolution of airports’ and ‘History of Indian aviation since 1912′.
- Another hall will have information about CIAL like its origin, important mile stones, its future programs and also a full model of CIAL !
- Info on various other stuffs would also be displayed like evolution of flying machines, fighter aircrafts, helicopters, aircraft engines, models of fighters and helicopters, visual and navigational aids, highest airport in the world, most difficult airport in landing, airports in strategic locations etc. For the macho ones, there is the ‘Fighter’ and ‘Bomber’ sections.
Other than to the exhibition halls, a simulator room (where visitors can have an almost real aircraft movement experience) and a library cum training hall (containing books from aviation field which could be of great help to kids) is also being set up.
Entry ???
- Would be open to anyone. Mainly targeting families and school kids.
- Obviously, there would be entry fees, about which has not been decided yet.
