Manya maha jangaleeeeee………………..

Sorry cant help it,The song is everywhere at Kochi that this gallanjust cant stop singing it(giving mom a serious headache :D ).Met up with Shaan Rahman for an awesome online interview, the guy behind the tunes of Malarvadi Arts Club.

1)First things First .Please tell us about ‘The Start’ ,your begining :)

Ans: Well,I started off by creating jingles for the company i worked for. Somewhere down the line,i thought of creating a Boy-Band in kerala and thus “Desi-Noise” was born with 3 guys Deepu,Siju and myself. Then i met Vineeth and Coffee@MG Road happened.

2)Malarvadi Arts Club
is topping the charts right now.Everyone at Kochi, just loves it.But do you think you would be able to maintain the freshness in the upcoming projects?

Ans: It depends upon the freshness of the projects i suppose. But maintaing freshness is mandatory and I will be defenitely working on delivering good songs.

3)What more do you think should be done,to make malayalam music industry more competitive?

Ans: I think its very competitive right now. We have a lot of new and promising musicians coming up like Sreevalsan J. Menon (LapTop) and Sejo John (Mummy n me) to name a few along with the current favorites like Deepak Dev and Rahul Raj. We all need good and fresh projects with good scripts to bring out different style of songs n different pattern of songs.

4)Your marriage left many malayali girls heart broken.Tell us about your family life(maybe that would be a consolation for the heart broken girls out there ;) )

Ans: Haha! No one came n told me that they’re heartbroken (sigh) . Anyways,I got married last October and my wife’s name is Zaira. She finished her MBA in HR from bangalore. Then there is my Dad,mom, sis and bro who has always been my strength and my weakness. Dad’s in Ras Al Khaimah,UAE working in a company called UCC(Union Cement Company). Mom’s here taking care of al of us. Sis Shery completed her MBBS and is preparing for her PG,She is married to Dr Khalid and finally my lil brother Shaheer whose at Bangalore studying BA in Visual Effects at iCat. He is also into movie making and wants to become a director one day.

5)What are your current and upcoming projects.

Ans: I din take up any projects for this year because we want to take Malarvaadi Arts Club places. We’re planning to do a few concerts this year related to MAC. Hope it turns out well. I already have a film for next year but its too early to talk about it. Wil let you know once its confirmed.

6)Is working in malayalam music industry satisfying? or lets say any plans to migrate to kollywood :) ?

Ans: I have very less experience to answer that question but so far it has been a rewarding experience. I surely want to work in Tamil projects as well. I wont migrate though.

8)A guy who creates good romantic melodies must have fallen in love atleast once :) .Tell us about your first crush;) (we would make sure your wife never reads this )

Ans: My first crush was a Pakistani girl named Afra. We studied together and this happened wen i was in my 8th at Indian High School,Ras Al Khaimah. I was a very fat boy at that time so she never even looked at me ;) . She had better choices :D

9)Whats your ultimate aim in life?.

Ans: I dont have an ultimate aim actualy. Im very happy and content with what i have right now. My ultimate aim was to do music for atleast one film n now im doing my second. All thanks to god and prayers from my family and friends. Would love to do songs in Tamil and Hindi. I could say that that is my new “ultimate aim”.

10) tell us what all comes to your mind when you hear “Kochi”

Ans: Kochi is a city which changed my life….My wife Zaira , composing sessions of Coffee@MG Road , Food at Fort Cochin ,  Midnight runaways with Vineeth to have coffee n sandwich from one place or the other and a few friendships that i think would last a lifetime. Thank you Kochi.

11)Any word of advice to the upcoming musicians?

Ans: Believe in your dreams and follow them . There is no such thing as luck. Its courage and hardwork. If you didnt make it big, blame yourself and not fate or luck and If you made it big, dont ever say it was luck. It was all your hard work and the courage to say “Yes,i can do it”. Take care friends.
