A Handicrafts Village soon at the Kochi International Airport
A handicraft village to come up soon at the CIAL (Cochin International Airport Limited) premises at Nedumbassery, inorder to promote tourism and cottage industries in the state. This would mean that we Gallan would have more reasons to visit the airport, the Airport museum and ‘aerotropolis’ concept being the other ones. 
The village named to be as ‘Indian Handicraft Village’ is planned to promote the products of artisans, private organisations, state-sponsored emporiums, state cottage industry and other self-help groups. The village would present them with a market of international class, having a business-wise strategic location. Items made of coir, jute, bamboo, coconut, leather, khadi, terracotta & clay, paintings, brass and silverware, handlooms, leather products, etc. will be promoted. An awesome initiative, this Gallan would say.
The tourists can gain a lot from this. They can escape from the hefty amounts that they will otherwise have to spend at the existing handicrafts’ shop in the city. This could thus be a curse for the shopkeepers at the areas like Mattancherry and Fort Kochi. The remedy can be that those vendors can have their outlets at the village too.
At the beginning, almost around 60 outlets will be open. There would also be a food court as part of the village. The shops will be allotted on first-come-first-serve basis. For booking and to know more, please don’t ask this Gallan.
